Luke Dashjr (pronounced dash-eer) is an American developer renowned for his contributions to the Bitcoin software.
Perhaps his most notable contribution was his discovery SegWit, Bitcoin's most famous upgrade, could be deployed as a soft fork, and he notably was an early advocate for a more open, consensus-based development process.
He has also contributed distinctly to core concepts of Bitcoin philosophy and governance, advocating that consensus-based governance would make the digital currency distinctly different from government monies.
Prior to Bitcoin, Dashjr worked on open-source video games like FreeCiv and Armageddon Advanced. He is an advocate for the alternative tonal number system and is a practicing Roman Catholic.
